THE WEATHER

The weather report is as follows: General situation: An extended scries of westerly depressions wijth their centres to the south, is moving rapidly across the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Forecast: Winds north-west-erly predominating, east of the main ranges and about Cook Strait; otherwise winds ranging between northwest an f i south-west, the force being moderate in the south, rresh to strong elsewhere, and rising to gale force at times from Nelson and Marlborough northwards. Seas (New Zealand waters) slight to moderate in coastal waters south of the Bay of Plenty, rough elsewhere, and becoming very rough on the west coast of the North Island. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong westerly winds to gales and rough seas. Weather mainly fair east of the ranges from Otago northwards; otherwise changeable with intermittent rain, and some heavy falls in ana west of the Southern Alps. Temperatures are becoming somewhat cooler.
