The. monthly meeting of the Brunner Borough Council, was presided over by, the Mayor . (Mr J. Smeaton) there being also: present Councillors Eder, Barber, Harper, Fordham and Gutberlet.' The overseer’s report was received as. satisfactory. Inward cor rcipondence received; and dealt with as follows:—Cr A.. McLSgan wrote tendering his resignation as a councillor owing to his no longer residing in the Borough. Cr. McLagan also expressed the wish to ,be of- any assistance possible to the Council in the fdture. It was resolved that the resignation be accepted with regret. It wa s . decided, that the Clerk act as Returning Officer and' make necessary arrangements to fill the vacancy, and that polling booths be at Dobson and Wallsen’d. .It was also made a recommendation to the Returning Officer that ’the appointments Of D.R.O.’s apd.poll clerks be not given to married women pr. to persons with businesses or positions. The Department of Land and Survey wrote requesting the Mayor to call a meeting for the purpose of electing members to form

a Domain Board in Taylorville. Brunner Cricket Club requested the use of the Taylorville reserve' for the. season and .also requested ’ the cutting of the grass and the 1 placing of P U S on the ground. * It was resolved. that the secretary be informed that steps are. being taken, to; form the reserve into a domain, which would be. controlled by a board, in the near future. Mr F. :E. Lockington, .wrote requesting repairs to the approaching roadway to his home. This, matter was referred to . the overseer to attend ,to when metal is available. Taylorville Recreation Committee wrote setting out the liability of. the committee to Mr R. Fordham and Mr .J/ Alien. It was decided that, the amount be paid to the committee. The following Notices of sale were received, and. approved of: —Est. Qf J. H..C. Roberts to W. H. Carse; .J; Devlin .to MrshWoot-

ten. An application'from a pensioner for exemption of rates ..was received, and it was resolved to leave , the matter over-;UntiL the nxt meeting .of the council for discussion, when the position of pensioners applying for .remission of rates would be fully discussed; remission - being only applicable in poverty-stricken cases whereas, it was being imposed upon within the borough.- N. Short- and Ei Gamble were granted building permits. It was decided that persons erecting buildings without permission - be prosecuted without further notice. -It was resolved that the Clerk obtain further . particulars' from the ■ Valuation Depart-ment-regarding -the Department faking over the valuing mf the borough. It was decided that- Mr R.- J. be employed In repairing the' suspension bridge - and that ■Mr J. R. Bqnnett be engaged- on the lorry .during that .period. -The matter of the new street lights to be placed at County Ro?.d Taylorville and Main Road Stillwater was left in the hands of the Mayor to arrange. It was resolved that a workman be informed that unless a definite improvement is shbwn in his work, he will be dismissed from Scheme 13/ • ,
