QUEEN CARNIVAL

Opening To-morrow

“THE GOOFY HOUSE AND ITS ■ 1,000 THRILLS."

Judging,by the lavish preparations, the Town Hall will present a gay spectacle when the Mayor (Mr F. A. Kitchingham), opens the Grand Bazaar in aid of the Marist Brothers’ Building Fund, to-morrow (Thursday) evening.

Each stall is being decorated in the particular colours of the Queen it represents, and the whole interior of the hall will be a blaze, of colour and light. No one can predict the outcome of this queen contest. Perhaps the socalled back-markers will be right to the fore when the final numbers go up. Surprises may be in store for all. For the past few days much silent and secret work has been going on among the various committees.

Some strange novelty shows will be introduced to-morrow evening. It would be impossible to mention in detail the countless attractions for patrons at the fair, but perhaps - ‘‘The Goofy House” will be the most spectacular of all. Such a weird contraption has never been seen on the West Coast before. It contains a thousand thrills for those daring enough to risk; its terrors. This, however, is but one of the attractions for those who will come along prepared to plunge into a full programme of mirth and fun.
