For the first time for many years, the Nelson-Wellington passenger ferry service will not be maintained each week night during the coming months. The Anchor Company’s steamer Matanei will lav up at Nelson on arrival there on Tuesday next, and on completion of her overhaul, the Arahura will be withdrawn. During June and July sailings will be made from Nelson on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only and from Wellington on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On the alternate days the motor vessel Nikau will take cargo and mails only between the two ports.
