THE WEATHER
[Per Press Association]. WELLINGTON, August 15. The weather report and forecast are as follows: —■ General situation: An intense an-ti-cyclone extends across the Tasman Sea and New Zealand areas. Pressure is relatively low to. the North and is now falling over south-eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong easterly north of Kawhia and East Cape; elsewhere light and variable, but gradually tending northerly, about and south of Cook Strait and freshening somewhat. Seas. (N.Z. waters): Rather rough -north of East Cape; elsewhere slight and moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong easterly winds in the northern portion: light and variable at first in the southern portion, but freshening northerlies later settling in. Seas slight to moderate. Weather: Fair to fine generally, but a few isolated showers, are probable in the far North and South. A cold night with many sharp frosts, but temperatures becoming milder to-morrow.
