JAP AIR SERVICE

Projected in Pacific AMERICANS HOSTILE. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received October 20, at 8.10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 20. The Japanese Government has given notice to the League of Nations ot its intention to open an air line from Japan to its Pacific Mandated Islands. This notice has aroused misgivings in American Navy circles, because the proposed route cuts athwart the PanAmerican Airways’ newly-inaugurated trans-Paeific line. Therefore, some be lieve, it may be a counter move to the iPHui-Ameriean Airways’ line, Japan has declared that she plans to survey deep sea fishing areas from the air. This also arouses misgivings, since it would bring Japanese flyers in the vicinity of Guam Island, which the United States may fortify. when the uon-fortitieation clause now governing the hold of Guam, lapses.
