Twelve patients and a fireman were burned to death in a fire which -bi.oke out at Salonika Municipal Hospital. Many patients received severe shock and are unlikely to survive. Newly-born babies in the maternity ward were mixed up in the dash from the building and the mothers are unable to identify them. LONDON, October IS.
Official circles state that the reports that the King is planning an Empire tour are entirely without foundation. An American, Airs. Ernest A. Simpson will enter a petition at the Ipswich Assizes, on October 22, for a divorce from her husband, an ex-naval officer. She was among the guests at Balmoral Castle during the King’s recent visit. The situation is worse. British troops were called put. Sixteen motor lorries, filled with Durham Light Infantry. are patrolling the disturbed urea. Pitched battles and looting continued all day. Ten more were killed and many injured. Hundreds of hooligans were arrested. Lord' Broadbourne, the Governor, has arrived from Poona. He says that the police now control the situation. Lord Bradbourne consulted with Hindu and Moslem leaders separately, and then jointly. The leaders pledged themselves to. restore peace.
Lord Bradbourne has returned to Poona.
