(Ou r Own Correspondent). Master Brian Smith, son of Air and’ Mrs Jim Smith, who met with a serious injury to his eye some ten days ago, and who has been a patient in the Greymouth Hospital, is making a good recovery. A mission conducted by Rev, Father Duffy, C.S.S'.R., was commenced on Sunday last, and will bo concluded at the week-end. Large crowds have been present at the evening services. Very heavy rain has been experienced locally during the past week. No damage was recorded, however. The Grey Power Board’s .supply of power appears to be very weak, judging by the household lights. Mr C. Armstrong, who has been visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs RArmstrong (Blackball) lias returned to Wellington. Mr and Mrs E. Chandler, who have been spending their honeymoon in Christchurch, have returned. Mrs Byrne, senr., Mawhcraiti. has' returned' home after spending a '.few weeks in the township. The annual meeting of the Tnangahua Cricket Sub-Association, called for Tuesday evening last, lapsed, owing to the non-appearance of the Region ami Nelson Creek delegates. Jhe meeting will now be held on luesday, October 20th. \ contingent of 28 local schoolboys wil! participate in the amateur boxing tournament at Reefton on Saturday evening. The boys have been fatefully trained by Messrs J. Nelson and A Malloy, and sonic of them have shown distinct promise.
