The Change Over TO STATE OWNERSHIP. (Per Press Association). INVERCARGILL, October IL After menths' of negotiations between Southland Electric Power Board and the Government as to whether or not the Government should take' iover the Monowai power scheme,, the matter was brought to a head at the end of last month, when the issue was refcrrqd to the taxpayers. The result was a. three to one majority’ for the Government. To-morrow, at 10.30 a.in., the Board will take its last bow. and on Tuesdav abolition conies into effect. Mr F. T. M. K'sscll, Chief E’ectrical Engineer of the Public Works De partment i s at present in Invercargill for th? winding-up of the Board. An Order-in-Couneil fix ng October 13 as the date for the abolition of the Southland Power Board was passed by the Executive Council on October 9.
