FREE WINE
FESTIVAL IN ITALIAN TOWN. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received October 8 at 7.30 p.m.) ROME, October 7. Free w r ine flowed copiously to-day from tw’O fountains in the Public Square in the little town of Marino. The town was celebrating the annual vintage festival. Despite the i allow rance of this gratuitous indulgence, there has not been one case of drunkenness among the thousands of visitors w'ho arrived in Marino to drink the honour of Bacchus. Everyone wa> entitled to at least two glasses of wine from the fountains, but a Mayoral edict baned the use of buckets. Carabineers kept the bibbers moving, and discouraged any loitering at the fountains.
