SHAW AGAIN For Sixth Time B. SILK HEADS AMATEURS. (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, October 8. Tn perfect golfing weather, the New Zealand Open Championship was decided to day in favour of A. Shaw, the professional, who wou the title for the sixth time. The Jellicoe Cup for the best round by any competitor in the Open Championship was won by a young Taihape amateur, J. Mortland, with a card of 70, equalling the course record. B. Silk topped the list of amateurs, thereby winning the Bledisloe £up. The leading pla/ers in the Open Championship, with their aggregates for the four rounds, were as follows: — Shaw 288, Bell 293, C. C. Clements 294, B. M. Silk 296, M. P. Hornabrook 299, E. J. Moss 299, T. H. Horton 301. J. L. Black 302. A. E. Guy 302, J. P. Mortland 303, A. G. Sime 304, J. D. Mclntosh 304, George Watt 304, N. H. Fuller 305.

off for the amateur title, and the first sixteen professionals for the professional title. Tn to-day’s play. Shaw was in form going out. reaching the turn in even fours, including a five at the ninth. He was th'rcc under fours at the 13th but fives at the 14th and 16th and a six at the 17th marred his card which showed 73. George Watt, the Masterton professional, went' out in sensational fashion, being two under fours nt the turns, but slipped a stroke at the 17th and two moire at flic 18th to finish in 73. The best early card was returned by W. Kum. who went out in 33 and came home in 38. E. Moss picked up one stroke on Shaw thi*s morning, doing the round in 72. going out in 37 and returning in 35. Kum struck bad luck in the third hole at the Dress Circle, and failed to get up the hill which cost him a 7.

Horton, the Masterton amateur, spoiled a chance °F a great round by taking eight at the ninth, going out in 42. coming back in 36 making a round of 78. E. Guy did the round in 71. going out in 37 after being nut of hounds at the Lands ’End. Coming home ho had 3 putts at i + he tenth holing in four. H?s score coming home included a birdie foutr at Long Tom. •nd an eag’e three at the encampment. making .34 for the homeward journey. J. P. Mortland. "with a card cf 70. recorded the best round of thn morning. At the second he got to <hc lcf‘ of the green into a bunker, registering a five. At the ninth he had the misfortune to put his ball out of hounds. Coming home he wanted four at tho last hole for a 69, but he got into the hunker with h’s second. Tie reached the green in th*ree but the ball shopped two inches from the hole.

SABAZEN ON N.Z. COURSES. SYDNEY, October 8. The American golfers Sarazen and

Kirkwood, were entertained at lunch by the Millions Club to-day . Later they had their first practice at Rose Bay links with Howard asd Popplewell.

Sarazen. in an interview, said that the New Zealand courses were a great surprise to him. being well grassed and laid out.
