N.Z. FINAL Won by McLean (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, October 7. The New Zealand amateur billiards championships concluded on Saturday evening, when 11. McLean, of Christchurch, beat A. Albertson, of Lyttelton, the (holder oif the title, by the comibrable margin .of 340 po’in|ts. At the comm-encement of the session, McLean had 752 up, and Albertson’s score stood at 563. McLean continued to play the better game for the greater part of the evening, and after a li|ttle less than three hours’ play, the scores were 1375 and 985. At this stage, Albertson appeared 'to show an improvement, and took his score to 1000, but he was unable to decrease his opponent's lead to any degree, and though .he was displaying better ball control than McLean, the latter’s safety play was keeping his score down. McLean added a 27 to> his total, and left it he balls in a difficult position, but, with a. good shot, Albertson opened the break which ended at 52, the scores then standing a|t .1429 to 1120. McLean was having bad luck at this sfiage, and Albertson, p’laying .a steady game, added another 43 to h’is score. Needing only 340 to -win McLean put in a determined effort, and the game, 1500, was reached with Albertson’s (total n’t 1160. Details are:—

Tn the professional billiards championship the scores are: Walter Lindrum 19,959 (including breaks of 809. 587. and 379); Clark McConachy 19,110 (including breaks of 591, 351 and 213). The first heat of the world’s billiards championship was won by Walter Lindrum, with 21,903, who defeated Clark McConadhy, who scored 20,795.
