(Aus. & NZ. Cable Assn.) CANBERRA, October 3. Unemployment figures for August thfs year, compiled by the Common wealth Statistician, show the low r est percentage of unemployment recorded in Australia since May, 1930. The August figures were 20 point 4 per cent. The May figures for 1930 were IS point 5 per cent. The maximum point was in May, 1932, when the proportion of unemployed was 30 per cent. SYDNEY, October 3. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Main) stated in the Assembly that thirty million acres in N.S.W. have been infested by the grasshopper pest. A Brisbane message .says that the grasshopper plague is reaching serious dimensions in Coondiwindi district. In the Wollumbilla. district, swarms are attacking belts of wheat. PERTH, October 3. The State Budget was presented by the. Deputy-Premier and Treasurer (Mr McCallum) in the Assembly. The revenue for 1934-5 is estimated at £<8,846,607, and the expenditure at £9,491,059. The deficit for the year 1933 4 was £788,912.
