Tate Not Coming (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn). LONDON, September 20. Following a relapse to-day. Tate informed the Marylebone C.C., that he was unabl c to go to Australia, as ho did not believe he would do himself justice. Ho needed a long rest, and therefore regretfully resigned. General regret is expressed at Tate’s inability to participate in the Australian tour. If is a stor v of the season’s overstrain, beginning with over-train-ing in the early Spring (Sussex’s long battle i n the attempt to head Yorkshire placed a severe strain cn Tate’s shoulders), and ending With a bad cold at Scarborough, from which he has not yet completely i-e-cocored, lie developed nervous dyspepsia, precipitating a breakdown. His three hours’ outing on Monday brought; a relapse. In view of Bowes’ select J •■n. it is doubtful if Marylebone will fill the vacancy. Lord Lewisham states that nobody 7 will be. selected fo- fill Tate’s place, as Marylebone only intended to send sixteen players, until Bowes was a last uiinute select on.
