ENTERTAINED AT GLASGOW. (Aus. & N.Z. Cablt Assn). LONDON, September 21. Mr W. M. Hughes Mas entertained by the Overseas League at a luncheon in Glasgow. Air Hugh C. Cree (President bf tho Glasgow Chamber of Commerce) presided over a large attendance. The Dukg °f Montrose, pro posing a toast to Air Hughes, paid a warm tribute to his great service to the Empire during and after the war. He said Mr Hughes’ v'sit would surely strengthen the ties between the Scot-tish-Australian people. Air Hughes, replying, was enthusiastically received. He expressed a firm conviction that the Empire would emerge from the depression triumphantly if the people had confidence and back ed this by work. Tn the afternoon. Air Hughes met representatives of shipowners and merchants and discussed means of fostering direct trade between Australia and Glasgow. Air Hughes was given a dinner by the Incorpoiatefl Guild of Tailors'.
