E liott was brought from Australia to ride Phar Lap in the Fifty Thousand Dollar Race, but the final decision on the rider was delayed until Elliott had had a chance to ride in a few races on the American tracks. Air Davis told the Australian Press correspondent, however, that he did not believe it would make any difference whether the track was fast or muddy on Sunday.
