CRIMINAL SESSIONS Dunedin Cases . I (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, February 4. f The Supreme Court has been occu pied for two days in hearing charge* against. George McGavin O 'Kane of having on November 30th last committed manslaughter by killing Stanley Omand; with recklessly and negligently driving and thereby causing the death of Stanley Omand; and that while in a. state of intoxication ia charge of a motor car, and by an act of omission relating thereto, he did cause the death of .Stanley Omand. For the defence, it was contended that th * evidence for the Crown" was circumstantial, and could not be relied upon. The jury returned a verdict of guilty on the second count, omitting the word “recklessly” from the charge. Accused was remanded till Friday for sentence.

Addressing The Grand Jury, Justice Adams, in referring to the charge of murder against Jack Oldfield, said b appeared that accused was at the war, where he wag wounded in the head and leg. After referring to domestic ma - ters during the interval between his return from the war and the alleged commission of the crime, his Honour made reference to the murder, relating to the evidence given at the'preliminary trial, and said that the Grand Jury should have no difficulty in dealing with the case. When Constable Boag received the call, he set out in a motor car. with hie 20 year old son at the wheel. On reaching the main street, the men were working on a greengrocer’s shop. They scattered, but Boag leapt off the car and after arresting one man, bundled him off into the car and doubled back to pick tip the other two men.

CllOTlt, a butcher, of New Plymouth, was fined two pounds and his license was cancelled for six months for negligent driving, causing .a collision between, his car and a motoir cycle on November 23, at the junction on the Main Road. Previously defendant was fined for being drunk while in charge of a car. His license was cancelled for a year.
