MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
GREYMOUTH CANDIDATES MAYOR UNOPPOSED List of Nominations Nominations closed at noon yesterday for the Municipal elections which take place ou May 1. The Mayor, Mr J. W. Grceuslade, was re-elected unopposed. An election will be necessary for all the local bodies concerned, the num ber of nominations in each case having exceeded the number of members required. BOROUGH COUNCIL.
There are eleven candidates for the nine seats on the Borough Council, including five members of the Council The candidates are ms follow, the five members of the last Council being mentioned first: — Frederick A. Kitchingham James McGinley James Begg Kent Richard Jones Williams Gerald Perotti George Edward Anderson Andrew Michael Carroll Charles Cobden Glevnoa Arthur McCarthy | John Spiers Robertson James Douglas Wingham The members of the former Council not seeking re-election were as follows: — Messrs J. O’Brien, M.P., (Deputy-Mayor), T. B. Baty, D. M Robertson, and S. B. White. In the case of Afr W. n. Parfitt, who announced his intention of being a candidate for the Borough Council, it was found that he was ineligible, owing to the fact that he is the Gov ernment’s representative on the Grey Fire Board, to 'which the Borough Council is a contributing authority. HOSPITAL BOARD. There are six candidates for the four seats on the Grey Hospital Board (Os Borough representatives), including the present member*, whose names are mentioned first:— Kate Teresa O’Brien George Ralph Harker James Brh'lane Robert A. Barrowman Edwin Ashton Dorothy Isobelle Oliver POWER BOARD. Seven candidates have been nom ini ted for the three vacancies as Bo cugh representatives on the Grey Power Board, including two of the three previous members, Messrs J. W. Greenslade (Chairman), and J. B. Kent, the retiring member being Mr J. O’Brien, M.P. The candidates aro as follow:—

A petition bearing the required number of signatures having been presenled concerning the half-holiday issue, a poll will also be taken on May 1, to determine which working day of tho week shall be observed as the statu tory half-holiday nt Greymouth and Cobden. For the purposes of the poll, tlie Borough of Greymouth. and the Town District of Cobden will be com bined.
