LABOUR WORLD.

COMPENSATION AWARD. WELLINGTON, Feb ruary 12. In the Arbitration Court, a claim was made by Maxwell Louis Pemin against John Graham, of Stokes Valley, for £323 compensa'ion and expenses. in respect to an injury to an eye through being struck by a piece of gorse, while clearing a section for defendant. It was stated that th e parties were on good terms, but were unable to agree over the amount of compensation. Judge Frazer remarked that both were very lucKy. Gors c prickles were very septic and in the majority of such cases, the injury would cause the loss of an eye. He awarded £6B in addition to £2O already paid, and in case any further trouble developed, which from the doctor’s evidence was not liknlv, he made a supensory award of an additional penny a week.
