PRESENTATION.
TO MR AND MRS R. LEACH. The Grey League Football Club held a social evening on Friday for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr Bob Leach, who recently joined the ranks of he Benedicts. There was a large number present, and a most enjoyable evening was spent in toasts and musical items. Mr H. Moore presided, and in proposing the toast of “Our Guest.” congratulated Mr Leach on his marriage, and also eulogised the good sporting qualities of the guest, both on and off the field. Mrs Leach, 00. was deserving of praise for her loyal support of the Grey Club, and in making the presentation of a handsome Morris chair, Mr Moore hoped that Air and Airs Leach would still give their valuable assistance to the Grey Club in future years. Air Leach, on rising to respond, was greeted with great applause, and in a brief speech thanked his fellow meni- [ bers for the present. It would serve to remind him of many happy associz lions, and although he might not be an active player next season, he would always be there and help the Club in any way possible. Mr W. Ryan also added his congratulations to Mr and Mrs Leach, and in a happy speech recalled many incidents which occurred when the Grey Club was in its infancy. Air Leach had been one of the founders of the Grey Club, and it was due *o the splendid work of him and a few others that the Grey Club was in the sound position
it is to-day. Mr Harrington and Air Harvey also congratulated Mr and Airs Leach, and endorsed the speeches of the President and Air Ryan. Musical items were contributed by the following: Messrs W. Greer (song). H. Harper (monologue), Hope (piano solo), R. Mcllirus (song), J. Wason (song). A. Thomas (song), Dickson and Barton (pian 0 duet), Betts (song), and Alason (song ami haka). Other toasts honoured were: “Ourselves,” “Kindred Sports” (proposed by Mr W. Ryan, and responded to by Messrs 11. Petrie. Running: (’. Mollit. Boxing; R. Harrington, Billiards: ami Stan Smith Hockey: “Absent Friends” (Mr R. McHirus); ‘Host and Hostess” (proposed by Mr Moore and responded to by Mr A. Lees): “Grey Club (Mr W. Greer); “Musicians” (Mr R. Harrington). Communi y singing was indulged in, and a most happy evening concluded by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne. » ? »On Friday afternoon, after work, the members of the Railway Relay Gang gathered together for the purpose nf making a presentation to Mr Bub beach. Mr Collett, in pre seating Mr Loach with a handsome eight-dav clock congra'ulated him on his recent marriage, and hoped that he .jyould treat their gift as a small token of the esteem in which he was held by his fellow workers. Mr Leach thanked his follow workers for their kind present, and hoped that he would be t sociated with the same gang for some time yet. He would treasure this present, which would always serve to remind him of their many pleasant associations. *
