MILLERTON NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent.) Labour Day. Labour" Day Sports were held on the Domain. In tho curly part of the morning rain fell heavily, thus making* the ground very sodden, but in spite of the unfavourable conditions a large "gathering of old and young turned, out' to calebrate* the occasion. The sports which included events for old and young were keenly contested. In the evening picture and dance ontainment was held, music for the latter being supplied by the MilAejton Jazz Band comprising Messrs P. Clark (piano), J. Cowan (Saxaphoue) ;J. Callaghan (violin) A. Moreton (Banjo), G. Orman (Mandoline). The duties of M.C., were alternately carried out by Messrs R. Graham. and - S. Moreton. The dance terminated shortly after 2.30 a,m. and was thoroughly enjoyable in every way. “Smoko” at Rechabite Hall The Pusher Football Club concluded its .season on Saturday night with a “smoko” at the Rechia.bite Hall. During the evening the Club was presented with tho Webster Cup, the the trophy being handed over by Mr T. Calder who represented the Buller Association. The Chairman Mr 8. May toasted “The Pusher Football Club” The manager of the team Mr T. Cook responding outlined the progress which the team had made during the last two seasons. He also thanked all those present, who had ably supported the team. AH the games which the team had played were keenly fought from start to finish and in Liendly sporting sph-rt (applause). The toast of th.\ Buller Soccer Association was suitably replied to by Mr T. Calder, who outlined the work the Association had done and congratulated the Push ers on winning the Webste/ Cup. Mr T. Calder with a few words appropriate to- the occasion pr esented the “Webster Cup” tq Captain J. Perrie who suitably responded. The toast of “Soccer” was proposed by Mr R. Broad and replied, to by the Chairman Mr S. May. During the evening songs were sung by Mr W. May “You can’t beat tha Pushers at all” S. Peggie “Why do I always Remember” F. Fox. “I met a pal from Tennessee; 3May ‘Outcasts”: T. Calder “The Nameless Lass I. Watson “Ukelele Dream Girl” J. Rennie “ Hame O’Mine” D. Wight “I’ve be-n a Wild Rover” R. Broad “Junita” J. Cook “The Irishman’s Dream” D. Wright “We’re de Scotchman” G. Orq|an, D. Doyle “Parted”, G. Bra-d--ly “Put a bit of Powder on it” S. May “Make New Friends” R. Doyl** “Danny Boy” The singing of Auid Sang Syne brought a most enjoyable evening to a close.

Pigeon Flying Much interest has been displayed in Homing pigeon flying during the past few weeks, racing taking place from Westport, Cape Fonlwind, Waimangaroa and Seddopville. The following are the results—Waimangaroa Mti Cuthbert Ist; Time 7min 46sec.. H. Mulgroye 2nd: Time 9min., 23 sec., Swan Bro;s 3rd 9 min 44 sec, Herd and Hugh 4th 10 min., 25 sec; J. Henderson sth, 3‘Omin 17sccs. Labour Day Trophy (from Cape Foulwind): — Swkm Bros Ist, Time 26min 46 secs; H. MulgTove 2nd, 2j7|miu 33sec; Blyth 3rd, 29min 38 secs. On Friday a race will take place from Gr ymouth when about 20 birds will be liberated.

Millerton Tramping Club:—Members of the Millertqn Tramping Club had their first Tlay ’s outing rc cently with a journey to Mokihinui and back. The Captain, Mr T. Archibald, President, M. W. Craighead or Secretary, Mr T. Cook wifll b..« pleased to receive the names of any who wish to join the Club.
