LIVE STOCK SALE
GOOD PRICES AT WATAROA. One of the largest sales of cattle for some time on the Coast was yesterday held at Wataroa Saleyards, South Westland. The yarding comprised 490 head of very fine cattle, a large proportion of which were prime, and there were some excellent lines of Herefords. The attendance of buyers was large and th? bidding was keen. Several auctioneers were operating, and there were good clearances. Messrs Dalgety and Coy’s report on the sale states: We were successful in topping the market, with a line of four years bullocks offered on account of Air John (’ron, of the Haast, which realised £l4 12s (id ]>cr head. The purchaser was Air AV. Diedrich* the well known Kokatahi stock raiser. On account of th'* same vendor wo sold ten three-year prime heifers at £ll, twelve three-year store heifers at £lO 10s to £ll ss, nine lighter sorts at £9 10s, and seven lighter sorts at £8 17s 6d; fourteen three-year store heifers at £B, and one cow at £lO 15s. We sold on account of Air J. Alcßridc (Okuru) twelve two-year heifers at from £6 2s 6d to £6 15s, and eight two-year heifer sat £7 12s 6d. On account of Mr T. Mcßride (Matainui), seven two and a half year heifers at £8 17s 6(1, seven more at £8 10s, one cow at £7 7s 6d, and one two-year heifer a.t £7 2s 6d. On account of Nolan Bros (Okuru), twelve three-year steers at £9, eight: three-year steers at £8 10s, and six three-year heifers at £lO 7s 6d.
