Wairarapa Club’s Meeting. NEW SYSTEM OF RACING SUCCESSFUL. MASTERTON, January 15. The Wairarapa Motor Club held its annual race meeting on the Taratahi Racecourse on Saturday, in showery weather, with a wet track. Intermittent drizzling showers caused the riders a lot of trouble, principally with sparking plugs. The Club’s new system of racing by classification, instead of by handicap, proved successful, and was approved by the riders. Coleman broke his gear box in the first start, and took no further part in the meeting. Results:— Novice Handicap, 5 miles. —W. J. Denby (23 Harley) scr 1; J. Ashcroft (2f New Hudson) 15sccs 2; L. Rinaldi (23 Indian) 3. Five started. Won easily. Time 5 mins 35 2-5 secs. Wairarapa Light-weight Championship, 7 miles.—C. Goodwin (2| 0.E.C.) 1; J. Arnott (2f Bitza) 2; E. Hemmington (23 Indian) 3. Seven started. A thrilling finish. Won by twenty yards. Time 6 mins 45 secs.
