BULLER EROSION.

ENGINEER TO INVESTIGATE. WELLINGTON, July 21. In the House recently, Mr H. E. Holland asked the Minister of Marine whether he is prepared to give favourable consideration to the request of the Westport Borough Council, supported by the Buller Progress League and the Westport Labour Party, that a fully-qualified marine engineer be instructed to report on the erosion of the Buller river and on Westport Harbour improvements generally. To-day, lion. Mr Anderson replied: A preliminary investigation has already been made into this matter, and it is not considered that any of the erosions which might affect the harbour are at present in a dangerous condition. Instructions have been given to have further investigation made into the matter by an engineering officer.
