— U.S.A. CHAMPIONSHIP. NEWYORK. July 16. Gene Sarazen, a 21 year old professional from Pittsburg, won the open golf championship at Chicago, with a score, of 283 from 72 holes. He was born at Now York of Italian parentage, and commenced caddying, at the age of eight. He reached the 44th hole in 220, and did the last 18 in 68. Black and Jones (who is an amateur) tied for tire second place with 289, Melhorn third,29o; Hagen fourth, 291 Duncan fifth 296, Diegel sixth 297, Hutchinson and Golden seventh 295; Farrell and Evanston eight 299; Kirkwood 300: Mitchell 302; Barnes and Hunter 306. Kirkwood was among the winners of prize, money. Jones gave his share to Black .
