HUGE STRIKE.
MILLION AND A QUARTER MEN. AGAINST U.S.A. WAGE CUTS. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] NEW YORK, July 6. The U.S.A. Department at Washington has announced nearly 1,250,000 men arc now striking against the wage reductions. The actual number is 1,228,000 made up as follows: — Coal miners 728,000. Textile workers 80,000. Railway workers 400,000. Smallers strikes 20,000. The Labour Department states it believes that if these strikes continue for any length of time, the secondary workers in industries dependant upon the major industries, will be thrown out of work.
