(Rec. September 19, 9*20 p.m.) LONDON. Septembor 18

Renter's' correspondent at British Headquarters states: This morning's attack extended southward from Gouzcacourt to the junction of right flanlc with the French Army. It partook of the character of an averrunnnig movement. It carried our line well into the. enemy out.po.st zone, bringing us nearer the Hindenburg system over & wide stretch. The country hereaboiits consists of little ridges, and gullies, and woods. It" lends itself to an elastic defence which the .Germans employed.. " The attack moved in progressive as it was necessary to pause / while the enemy pockets were mopped up. The French progressed well and kept in conformity with our advance. Rain was falling when the attack was launched and aeroplane observation was impossible. Tho weather has since improved.
