(Rec. September 10, 12.10 a.m.) LONDON, September 19. A French communique states: During the day our troops, operating in conjunction with the British Army, progressed in the regiQn west of Jst Quentin, between Holnon and Essigny Le Grand, on a front of ten kilbmtres, notwithstanding a desperate resistance. We advanced our lines on ati average of two kilometres. We reached the western outskirts of Francelly and Silency, and captured Savy Wood, Fontaine les Mearch. Farther south we hold the southern outskirts and Contescourt. We approached Essigny Le Grand, and took several hundred prisoners. North of the Aisne the French have continued to progress west of Jouy. The enemy delivered strong counterattacks on a plateau east of 911emant. Our counter-attack drove the enemyhack, and resulted in fresh gains of" ground and prisoners.
