DISTRICT COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the District Committee was held subsequently, the same members being present. A letter was received from the Reefton Jockey Club with reference to defaulters on the unpaid forfeit list. The letter was received and the names were placed on the defaulter's list. Mr. T. Cameron, with reference to his engagement of N. Campbell to ride his horse, Divorce, at the midsummer meeting. The secretary was instructed to send the report received from Cameron to N. Campbell. In the matter of licenses the Chairman and Secretary were delegated to make the necessary inquiries with power to act. Applications were received for licenses from L. N. Evans (jockey) and A. L. Harvey (trainer). The application of G. Moore for a trainer's and jockey's license was withdrawn. f ' Jockey's licenses were granted to G. W. New (season) and J. M. Crerar (balance of season). From the Council of the Racing Conference forwarding list of jockeys reported since last . meeting. The letter w r as received and contents noted. From Mrs. Mary Catherine Mitchell applying for relief. It was resolved to refer the request to the Racing Conference, stating that it had the hearty support of the District Committee and asking that it receive favourable consideration. It was also resolved to inform Mrs. Mitchell what course the Committee adopted.
