GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB

MONTHLY MEETING,

The monthly meeting of the Greymouth Jockey Club held last night was attended by Messrs W. R. Kettle (chairman), W. Claughsey, J. Walton, R. Dunphy, T. E. Coates, F. H. Kilgour, and E. J. Smith. From the Hodson. Totalisator Proprietors offering to instal a silent machine, and asking the number of days the club raced, the amount put through the totalisator on one day and the amount for the year. The secretary was instructed to supply the information. From the Greymouth Harbour Board granting the use of from ten to twelve chains of 30 lb. iron rails and three side or end tips, on the usual conditions. The secretary was instructed to write and thank the Board. [ Applications were received for work in widening the track. — Received. The caretaker's report was received and adopted. The Treasurer reported that the. financial poistion of the Club was satisfactory and that on the old debenture account £000 had been paid off together with interest. ' The treasurer's action was endorsed. The plans and estimates for putting the new track in order were received and will be considered at the next ordinary meeting. A letter was received from the Racing Conference with reference to the -Amendment of the Gaming Act and asking for advise. Tlie Chairman said that he had replied and his action was endorsed.
