WELLINGTON, July: ;i. When the House met at 2. 3O p.m. Mr J. A. Hanan (Invercargill) asked Hon. J. Allen if he would refer "the Religious Instructions in Schools Bill to the Education Committee i n order that evidence might be taken on; the petitions presented against the Bill. Mr. .Allen replied that he would fee prepared to send the Bill to the par ticular committees to which petitions were referred. The Gaming- Act Amendment (Mr. G. Hunter), Victoria College, Amendment (Hon. J. Allen), Licensing mendment (Hon. W. F. Massey) Bills were introduced and read a first tinie. REPLTES TO QUESTION. - Replying to questions, Ministers said that . strong- representations -on the subject of the colouring of mar garine hadl bden made to the Home Government, but up to the present rip notification of its intention to stop the practice had been received. The mat ter was being- watched by the High Commissioner, but owing to the great influence of the margarine tvdntere^ts on butter, the matter was a subject requiring careful handling. The danger of the introduction' of foot and mouth disease per the medium, of the clothing and effects of immigrants from a European country is extremely remote, but the High Commissioner's attention will be directed to it with a view to taking any steps that are practicable to obviate The question of having senior cadet parades in the country in the day time in the form of concentration instead of evening 1 drill's is now engag ing the attention of • the Department. - The report of the new General Man ager of Railways ,will be laid on the table as early as practicable. According to the decision of the Supreme Court, civil servants have a clear and unquestionable right of ap peal under the Public ' Service Act.
