WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. The Minister fox Land s was recently asked by Mr Guinness whether he will make provision on the Supplementary Estimates for- the construe»io:i of a road from the main Grey Valley road at Stillwater in order to open up for settlement the land in the Stillwater valley?
Says the Minister to-day,' "I am advised that the Lands Department i-j not interested in arranging for firr?her road construction Jn the Stillwater valley, as the road is only used by •cnarifs- of the Greymouth Harbour Board. I am also advised- that the Orown land lying to the south is not adapted for close settlement,, nor has *h-erc been any demand for it. The Jand suitable JF-ov settlement, is within the Education Endowment Reserve No \3O. which has been leased to a sawbilling firm tor twenty-one years by '■he Westland School 1 Commissioners
