Colonel Hume is inspecting the prisons of the the colony on behalf of the New Zealand Government. Adelaide, April 18. The Colonial Treasurer has instructed the Agent-General to co-operate with the other Agents-General to protest against the wine duty on Colonial stocks. Brisbane, April 18. The Premier states that if New South Wales delays the passage of the Federal Bill beyond a fortnight Queensland will not be able to deal with the bill till the July session. (Received April 18, at 10 p m.) Sydney, April 18. Want cabled to the Premier resigning, the Attorney -Generalship. Nothing has been done to fill the vacancy. At present the Premier is discharging the duties. Neild, holding that the Queen's regulations apply to the colonies, refrained from attending Parlioment to-day. An adjournment of the House was moved to ask Government what steps they would take in view of the existing insubordination in the army. The whole debate so far is of a farcical character. The Legislative Council will take the second reading of the Federal Bill tomorrow. Melbourne, April 18. Medor was committed for trial for trial for wilful murder. Brisbane, April 18. Wragge predicts strong westerly weather between Hobart and the Bluff. (Received April 19, at 0 50 am.) Sydney, April 18. Firth, Treasurer of the New South j Wales Cricket Association, has resigned in consequence of strictures passed on him in connection with the treatment of the New -Zealand cricketers. The Executive ask him to reconsider his decision.
