RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT AHAURA.
Friday, 4th December, (Before Major Keddell, R.M.) Parfitt v Wood. — Jugdment summons. Application under the Imprisonment for Debt Act. Plaintiff having proved his case, and that a verdict had been given tor amount claimed in 1883, called Colin F. Algie, who deposed. I know defendant. He has been working for me from the 31st September to the Ist November at 10s a day. I settled with him and paid him £15 on the latter date. He then told me he had received a summons for debt. Judgment. — Defendant evidently had means to pay. There was no evidence before the Court that he had other obligations, or other satisfactory explanation, and having so clearly treated the Court with contempt, an order would be made for immediate payment of amount claimed , with costs, in default six weeks imprisonment in Hokitika jail. Low v Galwey — Claim for monies lent and paid on defend ant s account. Plaintiff failed to prove his case, which was dismissed. Garth v Lagoni. — Claim for £2 7s 6d for goods supplied. — Judgment by default for amount with costs. Hamilton v August. — Defendant is a mariner at Greymouth, . and plaintiff claimed for goods supplied to a party at Ahaura. — Adjourned to Bth January. Adams v Nottle.— Claim for £92.— Judgment fojt.amount.with- coats.
