Brunnerton, July 24,

Mr A. R. Guinness has wired as follows to the leaseholders of Wallsend and Dobson Town : — " Hope you can get up public meeting in support of Government proposal re overland railway. Every effort desirable.— A. R. Guinness."

The following is another telegram received : — " To C. Fowler. — I have placed your telegram before the Hon. Minister for Public Works. I have also written a letter strongly urging that the bridge be erected at Rocky Island. Only happy to be of service to you,|and to endeavor to have public monies spent wisely.— -R. J. Seddon, Wellington."
