BOROUGH ELECTIONS

VERY HEAVY NOMINATIONS. TWENTY-SEVEN FOR COUNCIL. TWO MAYORAL- CANDIDATES. Nominations in connection with the municipal elections next month closed at noon on Wednesday and there is every indication of ah interesting contest, with heavy polling a certainty. For the Mayoralty there are' only two candidates, the sitting Mayor, Mr. John Jackson, and Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P. For the nine sen-*-on the Borough Council there is the astonishing list of 27 candidates, including seven of the sitting members. Messrs. W. J. Mac-Gibbon and W. Cave are not secicing re-election. For borough representation on the Harbor Board the nominations number six, including the four sitting members. The Hospital Board, five seats to he filled, has attracted 11 nominations, all the sitting members again offering their services. Nine have boon nominated for the four seats on the Power Board, including all the sitting members.
