Laid largely in tho exciting atmosphere of the horso racing centres, “Don’t Bet on Love” tells tho human story of a young gambler who knows more about horses than he doe* about women. Ayres, starred in the role, skyrockets to the top as a betting sensation, hut loses in his romance with the more serious-minded Ginger. After & hectio career in which ho determines to oppose, with crooked methods, the biggest gambler at tho tracks, Ayres stakes his entire fortune on the “big race” and tho (suspense built up for, this thrilling sequence is admirable. Ayres, more romantic and sympathetic than evd* has a role ideally suited to him. His performance has an appeal that order.s on genuine dramatic genius. Ginger Rogers twins hearts right arid loft .as tho little manicurist. Preparations are now well in hand for, Mickey Mouse's big birthday party, which takes place tomorrow • afternoon. 'The huge birthday cake is, now on view in Findlay’s window. A special ehildr ren’s programme ■including “Mickey Mouse” cartoon will be presented in addition to “Lucky Devils”.
