ATE RUM LOLLTES. YOUTH'S STATEMENT BEFORE DEATH. {Press Association > DUNEDIN, Oct. IS>. William McGill Miiburn, 1", died suddenly at his parents’ residence, Burnside, on Tuesday evening. At the inquest the father gave evidence that the deceased, referring to an (nymt in the afternoon, said; “1 was shiekered at work io-dny, dad.’’ The deceased added that he had been eating rum lollies, and 1 hey had made him “shiekered.” Be was working at a desk where he was employed when his Loaf] rocked t roni side to bide. His brother gave ovidpncp '-hat the deceased 'was rutilling the previous night as a harrier, and showed no distress after the race, and made no complaints of pain. The inquest was adjourned.
SUPPED INTO MINE HOPPER. YOUNG MAN’S DEATH. ( Press Association > WELLINGTON, Oct, 1.9. Athol John George Connolly, 26, n married man. with two young children, was killed at Kura mi i Golden Hills Limited’s low-grade mining plant at 9 o’clock this morning. Connolly was working 50ft. up the face of a- cut above a hopper when lie slipped and was carried down with slurry and almost covered. He was dead when release.-!, his npek having been broken.
