HOTEL LICENSES
REMOVAL TO DIPT A NOE
A.A.A. SUPPORT. Further reference to the disability imposed on hotels through the present legislation preventing the transfer of licences more than n short distance was made at the monthly meeting of the Gisborne advisory committee of the .Auckland Aulomo bile Association.
Air. Beg. S. (’a niton, licensee o r the Afotu Hotel, wrote to the commit toe as follows.--
“It has come to my knowledge that rumors urn current in Gisborne indicating my objection lo the removal of the Afotu Hotel license to Ala Larva i. Although my wish l,° have the license removed has not, been published in the press. 1 wish 1.0 deny the rumors. I should lie grateful if you will .convey this information In the members' of your •association. I-wish to take the opportunity of thanking your association for the past interest it lias taken in the matter of the removal.’
It was pointed out that the necessary Bill had already been prepared and members decided to urge that i| be brought Forward at the first opportunity.
Air. A. Wilson, licensee of the Patntahi Hotel, wrote ns follows
■ “I would like to know the opinion of your association-a f; fin the shifting of this hotel. It is well recognised by travellers especially in view of the difficulty they have in locating this hotel, that the place is altogether out of the mnd of traffic. The idea next •licensing committee meeting will be to make application to have this' place shifted to- the Ngntapa. road, where there is traffic, a distance of under one mile.” The letterv was received.
