POVERTY BAY ASSOCIATION 'AI FETING OF COAIAIITTEE Tho first meeting of the newlyformed committee of the Poverty Bay Boxing Association, was held last evening, Air A. S. Parker presiding over the following: Alessrs T. Sinaia, W. B. Edwards, R. Humphreys, R. Aislabie, A. Heency, G. A. Sclents, J. F. Jeune, D. Grade and J. If. Clayton. The chairman opened by welcoming the new members, Alessrs R Anslabio, J. Clayton, and D. Grume and remarked that the committee appeared to be a very live body. It was unanimously agreed to carry on operations for tho season, and to hold as many tournaments as possible. Air J. AI. Kay was appointed honorary secretary, and Air G. A'. Lynex honorary treasurer. Both then attended the meeting and were extended a hearty welcome by the chair man. Alessrs Rice, Humphreys, and Edwards were appointed a match committee, and were instructed to report to {the next meeting as to what boxers would ho available for a tournament, to bo held this month. .. A committee consisting of .Messrs Humphreys;- Grade, Lynex and See ate was appointed to report to the ifext moisting the possibility of obtaining a hall suitable for training purposes, and for the holding of tournaments, if required. With regard to the membership of the association, the chairman pointed out that there were still vacancies to be filled. In this respect, it was decided to organise a drive to bring the membership up to the full quota allowed by the rules. An intimation was received from Air W. C. Pilmer, stating that was prepared To introduce at least 15 new country members. —It was decided to thank Air Pilmer for his interest - n the association. It was decided to approach the Miller Trust Fund for assistance in the direction of buying gear and trophies and promoting the sport of amateur boxing in this district. Applications for matches were received from several well-known professionals, but it was decided to hold these over for consideration at a later date. Air Heenev avus granted leave ot absence for the next few week*.
