POWER BOARD CHAIRMANSHIP.

MR. E. It. BALL RE-ELECTED

ANNUAL MEETING.

Testimony to members’ confidence in Mr. F. R. Ball as chairman of the Poverty Bay Power Board was given at the annual meeting yesterday, when-he was re-elected To that position without a contest.

There were present at the meeting Messrs. E. R. Ball, T ; . Corson, Ai. J. White, S. V, Heaufoy, .H. DeCosta, J. Tomhleson ami M. T. Triiilord.

.The secretary (llr V. Sanders) called for nominations for the position of chairman for the year.

Mr. E. R. Ball was proposed by Mr. T. Corson, his nomination was seconded by Mr. Tiafford, and he was re-elected unanimously. In returning thanks for his reelection, Air. Ball pointed out that last year had proved a very-difficult one, but the present one, the fourth of tlieir operations, might prove even more so. He was sure, however, that members would give their support to the chair as had been done m the- past and, with that eC-oper-ation, they should make* satisfactory progress. In the coming year they might make a small loss, -hut- it would not entail the. striking of an extra rate. Little hope of a reduction in charges this year could .ho entertained, “hut, at the end of the next 12 months, the position _ might bo quite different and something - in this direction possible. Air. Ball also extended a welcome to the new members of the Board. The chairman, in moving that record he made ol‘ the Board’s appreciation of t-hc services of the retiring members, Alessrs. A. J. Nicol, B. H. Aislabie and I. Mirfield. stated that they had given earnest attention to the work of the Board and had proved of great assistance during their terms on the body. Their services would he greatly missed, lie added. Messrs. T. Corson and A. C. Steel© spoke* in similar terms and the motion was carried with acclamation.

The following were elected a I‘ inance Committee for the year: Alessrs. T. Corson, S. V. Boautoy, M. J. White and Al. T. Tralford.
