FREEZING RATES.
NOT TO BE AS LOW AS IN
HAWKE’S BAY
The prices to be. paid for stock this season-were referred to by Air C. HWilliams at the conclusion of the G.S.F.M. and AI. Co. Ltd.’s annual meeting of shareholders on Saturday. Mr Williams pointed out that a public statement had been made thatthe works intended paying Hawke’s ■Bay prices for stock, inferring that freezing charges also to he on the basis of Hawke’s Bay rates. .“That’s all bunkum”, retorted the chairman. “There is a difference. of 74-per head ’in the cost of freezing between here and Hawke’s Bay.” In his opinion the rates had been reduced too much already and the loss on freezing would astonish them. Mr AVilliams remarked that, in view of the fact that Vestys' proposed’ buying at Hawke’s Bay rates-, the shareholders should do without a dividend sooner than lose the stock for freezing and the company should .pay the same riates. “The rates ara lower now than they ought to be”, added the chairman, m -concluding the discussion.
