HEAD-ON COLLISION

SMASH AT AUCKLAND RAILWAY, STATION (Press Association.> AUCKLAND, Oct. 30. A r heavily-laden goods train backing'from the arrival platform of the city- station this morning collided with a ; stationary train on tho same line. Thev met head on, the moving train weiging about 400 tons.and the other train about 200 tons. Of the former train the whole of the ten vehicles were considerably damaged. They ..comprised refrigerated wagons carrying butter and cheese from the Southdo'wn freezing works for shipment by the Devon. It is impossible sfate'd.Fie' exteht of the damage to the dairy produce. The train comprised four box wagons, five'large wagons and an old passenger car. The' latter was smashed beyond repaid, .and every vehicle more or less damaged. Four wagons and the passenger car left the rails. The stationary' train received little or no damage. No damage was done to the permanent way, and no one was injured -7 .
