MEETING OF EXECUTIVE

The weekly meeting of the executive committee of the executive committee. of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held on Monday. when Mr. A. Baker presided over thfo I lowing delegates: Messrs, v . Bennett, A. G. Soddon, J. Ivay, G. Lynex, Bignali and R. Gumming (lion. sec.). Advice was received from Mr. AVuson, who had acted as resident delegate of the Association to the New Zealand Cricket Council, that he was unable to continue in that position. It was resolved that Air. Wilson be thanked for his fine services to the association in the past, and also that the council be asked*to nominate n successor. The grounds committee reported that rolling had started on the Oval thta morning and that a wicket would he available for the all-comers’ match next Saturday, while . four wickets would he ready on the following Saturday Final arrangements for the official opening on November 3 were left over to the next meeting. Messrs. L. Thomson and A. G. S-ccklon were appointed to captain the teams in the nil-comers’ game on Saturday next. Votes of thanks to Air. VV . Allen for the use of a distributor, and to Mr. R.. C. Fbskcn for the use of a horse, were carried.

FROTHBLOWERS v. WOWSERS

(Special to the Times.) 6 TOKOMARU BAY, Oct. 22 This game was played during the week-end under good weather conditions for the Bignell Cup. As can be seen by the totals, one or two good individual scores were run up, naturally to the detriment of howling averages, none of the trundlers being able to do any good at all.
