There has been a sensation in boxing circles over the statement of the American, Van Drceden, relative to liis match against the Englishman, Kid Socks, last Saturday, which the referee declared a “no contest,” he being dissatisfied with the genuine*: ness of tho American’s performance. . The- letter in an affidavit confesses that he agreed tb lose the: fight in tho fifth round and that he was-to receive a percentage.of tho winnings which a third person, whom he named, expected tb gam by backing the Englishman.
