LAST RESPECTS TO' TELEG APHIST 'CARR,
Members of all ratings of H.M.&. Diomede paid their last respects to their late comrade. Telegraphist John George Oswald Carr, who met his death under tragic circumstances at an early hour yesterday morning through falling from the' fire escape at the. back of the Albion Hotel. The whole of the ship’s company, with the exception of the guard.' turned out in white, uniforms, headed by tho ship’s band. The cortege left Haisman's mortuary at a slow pace to the strains of the “Dead March,” the cortege being accompanied by a firing party, with arms reversed The streets were lined with crowds bent on paying their last respects to tlie dead. After proceeding at :v sle w march for some distance the cortege was transported on a bus to the cemetery gates where it was reformed and tlie burial service was carried out with the customary ceremony by the Rev. Father Murphy.
