PARTY REACH SHORE SAFELY

WAIHI, Jan. 2

During the holidays an oil launch owned by Mr W. H. Ross was destroyed by fire in Whangamata harbor. A party was starting out on a voyage when the engine back-fired. An effort to extinguish the _ subsequent fire failed, the craft ultimately sinking in ten feet of water. Meanwhile the party got ashore safely. P.A.
