DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. TO BE HELD AT 7'ATL'TAHI NEXT YEAR. At the annual conference the N.Z. Athletic and Cycling Union held at Dunedin last week the poverty Bay and Taumarunui centres applied for the championships for 1926-27. The West .Coast asked that it he granted the cycling championships. The President (Mr J. A. Hansen) said that the ■championships had been held in the South Island during the past two years, so the North Island was due now. , Mr Cliff Church supported Gisborne’s application for the cycling, running, and field events for 1927, the meeting to be held at Patutahi on January 1 and 2. He said that the centre had proved it could stage big meetings, and further sport would be given a big fillip in the district if the championships were allotted. Mr Perkins (Greyirouth) withdrew the West Coast application for the cycling events. Gisborne was allotted the champion■sliips desired, and it was decided to hold the next conference at Taumarunui.
