WANGANUI GARRISON BAND.
MR. WADE TO 1 VISIT AUSTRALIA
Mr. A. Wade conductor of the Wanganui Garrison. Band, leaves me first week in March for Australia, under engagement with one of his old hands, .Ipswich (Queensland) City Vice-Regals, to coach them for the big contest at Toowoomba next Easter, the first prize being £250. The Ipswich band while under his direction was never beaten, their greatest victory being the championship of Australia, at Sydney, 1919, when they scored 149 cut of 150 points for Owen’s arrangement of “Valkyrie,” nine hands competing. With the Wanganui Garrison Band, Conductor Wade- has had wonderful successes. Their greates victory was at Ballarat, in 1910, when Conductor Wade had charge cf them. At this contest ho introduced the great “Valkyrie” selection to the hands of Australia.. and was awarded 42 points ahead of the second band for a great performance that made Wanganui Garrison Band famous throughout Australia. The hand also won the march at Ballarat, gaining the possible points for music: nine hands competed at Ballarat in 1910. As adjudicator, Ivrr. Wade has judged forty-five times at the chief cornnetitious throughout Australasia, including four times at Ballarat. After the Toowoomba contest, Mr Wade will immediately return to Wanganui.
