: Several projected aeroplane trips • from Gisborne have had to he posti poiied or cancelled on account of the ! continued bad weather, i Five passengers now await passage jto Auckland by aeroplane, and as i this is two more than the D.H. 9 j can carry, either two trips will nave to be made in the large machine, or j the smaller Avrn will make the ! journey at the same time, taking the t.vo extra passengers. Captain Buckley hopes to leave by the D.H. 9 at 8 * a.m. to-morrow. ~ After reaching , Auckland lie will fly to the Muriwai beach there in the afternoon, as a big motor sports meeting is being held there and several of the intending passengers from Gisborne are desirous of attending it. All preparations have been made for the journey which will doubtless lend a stimulus to aviation in this district and the North Island. Mr Stan. Nathan is not now able to go. but bis place . will he taken by Mr McCullough, a traveller. Mr G. Anderson will be another passenger, while the third scat will have to he allocated to either Mr G. Nicholls or Mr Broolcer, both of whom wish to make tne trip. The trip to Opotiki, which was to have been made' yesterday in the Avro, has also been postponed, hut Captain Brake will leave for the Bay of Plenty township when -the weather permits. Consequent upon the postponement of the Arahura’s departure on Wednesday evening, Mr Geo. Smith, chairman of the Harbor Board, who had intended leaving by the vessel, arranged to make a flight with Captain Brake to Hastings, with two other passengers, yesterday morning. It was intended to catch there the south express, but the unfavorable weather * conditions compelled a cancellation of the trip, and Mr Smith left for the South by the Arahura last night for Wellington, where ho attends a conference of the Now Zealand Employers’ Association.
